You may also contact the program director prior to the registration deadline with team player lists so that we may assign players correctly after the registration deadline.

All teams must have an adult facilitator to manage the team. All facilitators must complete Safesport Training.

  • Player Driven Program

The Winter Indoor Soccer League is designed to be a “player driven” program. This simply means that players are encouraged to make the majority of decisions during the course of the season.  Teams do not have coaches, rather an adult facilitator simply manages the team.  Matches will be officiated by certified referees.

Unlike the more traditional soccer programs, WISL is designed to emulate a more “free play” or “pick-up” style soccer experience.  Creativity is emphasized and player decision making is paramount.  The indoor field constraints and fast-paced play naturally inspires this approach.  Players who embrace this play develop the necessary technical foot skills required to be successful in this environment and the outdoor game as well.

All teams are to have an adult team facilitator with them for every match.  The facilitator presence is mostly to help facilitate safe play and appropriate playing time for all players on the team.  Team formations and general playing decisions should be done in conjunction with the players. Coaching should be limited specifically to encourage players to learn from the game and to adapt to the challenges it presents.  In the WISL program the game itself is the teacher.
